- Dom De Eguren Protocolo Blanc 2009 Product #23065 (In Stock)
-
-
This is one of our favorite VALUE white wines. The grapes are grown in a mixture of clay and limestone giving the wine both depth and striking minerality. The blend is 70% Airen and 30% Macabeo with a strong fresh-fruit element. Delicious flavors of lemon zest, white pepper and salty pear come through. A VERY dry white wine that is a steal! Pairs great with grilled shellfish dishes.
- Ch Montaud Cotes De Provence Rose 2009 375 Ml Product #23303 (In Stock)
-
-
We fell in love with this classic rosé of Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault the first time we tasted it. It’s a pale pink wine bursting with wild strawberry fruit and a lovely herbal note at beginning and end. Very dry and completely refreshing and attractively packaged in the traditional curvy Provencal rose bottle.
We were a little surprised to see Wine Spectator recognize the quality here, but not at all surprised that in-the-know demand spiked right away. We felt lucky to secure one last allocation of a wine we’ve been enjoying all spring. We have 20 cases in stock now and another 10 cases arriving on June 22. So, get yours while you can! - Owl House Red Wine NV Product #22287 (In Stock)
-
-
Owl House comes to us from Ledgewood Creek, a large (350 acres) vineyard operation located in the Suisun Valley, located on the southeastern border of Napa. While Ledgewood’s main focus is growing grapes for other winemakers, they began to vinify some of their own fruit in 2001. About a year ago, Ledgewood introduced a new wine that featured some of the estate’s Rhone varietals blended with some Cabernet and Merlot. The winery won’t disclose the exact blend it uses for Owl House red, but we’re pretty sure it’s mainly Grenache and Syrah plus some Mourvedre and, possibly, Cinsault. We know for sure it's delicious!
Classic aromas of ripe cherry, licorice and vanilla lead to a soft, juicy, mouthful of ripe fruit, spice, and a bit of earth (which we think is the Mourvedre). It’s a round, plush, wine that’s all too easy to gulp without a thought, but that has enough complexity and depth to stand up to a little attention, too. The tannins are very ripe and light, and an attractive hint of walnut emerges on the finish. Drink this with burgers, stews, or just on its own with family and friends. - Mas De Chabert Roussanne 2009 Product #23292 (In Stock)
-
-
I’d love to wax eloquent about this producer, but I’ve never heard of them before and can’t find anything about them online (at least in English). The wine, though, speaks for itself. It’s made from 100% Roussanne, a key white wine grape in the Rhone Valley and South of France that has a tendency to give heavy, even flabby, wines.
The 2009 Mas de Chabert, though, shows another side to this variety! On the nose loads of peach and apricot fruit and a little peach blossom and a touch of lemon oil. In the mouth more stone fruit (apricot especially), peach skin, lemon rind, and a bunch of other cool flavors swirl around in a vibrant, zippy, package. A perfect wine to drink on its own or with poultry or fish. - Chabert Chardonnay Vin De Pays d'Oc 2009 Product #23316 (In Stock)

We spend a lot of time looking for great wine values to bring you. Usually, we're trying to find classic wines that represent their local heritage, come with a cool story about the maker or region, and taste really delicious. Sometimes, one out of three ain't bad! The Chabert Chardonnay is from France's Langeudoc region, well-spring of the famous European "wine lake". Local importer Alan Cohen of LVDH and his partner in France found some lovely Chardonnay fruit growing here and prevailed on their friends at the Mas De Chabert winery to make this stunning little value white. All stainless steel and with at least some malolactic fermentation, the result is a wine that's just too darn tasty for it's very fair price.
Pour a glass and you'll find classic Chardonnay aromas - apple, white stone fruit, lemon zest, pear skin and a touch of fresh butter. Then there's a wonderful burst of ripe, round flavors featuring pineapple, green apple fruit a touch of refreshing mineral and lemon squirt acidity. There's just a hint of cream and butter, too, but mainly you'll notice the freshness and vibrancy of this creamy, easy-going, chardonnay. The pineapple/green apple fruit linger nicely and is framed by a hint of dusty mineral on the long, juicy, finish. A wine sure to appeal to both "Old World" and "New World" palates, and a fantastic value. - Gatao Vinho Verde Nv Product #17328 (In Stock)

- Bricco Dei Tati Cortese Piemonte 2008 Product #21972 (In Stock)
-
-
Washington Post "Recession Buster" Selection!
One of our favorite warm weather wines, the 2008 Bricco dei Tati expresses even more of the minerality and citrus zest that the 2007 vintage was so famous for. The nose is a bit richer with orange blossom, lemon zest, and minerality. The palate is fresh and lively with lemon and hints of green apple. A light bodied wine that plays well with seafood dishes and lighter fare.
- Borsao Campo De Borja 2008 Product #22009 (In Stock)

-
Delight in a spectacle of plum-raspberry aromas, very spicy and with a fruity retro-nasal aroma. With all of the sharpness and brilliance of its cherry red tones, and then in the mouth, this wine has a smooth and balanced passage with the great intensity of the fruit provided by its youth. Its aftertaste is long and pleasing. Winemaker Notes
- Monte Degli Angeli Sangiovese Puglia 2008 Product #22540 (In Stock)
-
-
We're not sure how Monte Degli Angeli found Sangiovese like this down in the hot heel of the Italian boot, but we're really glad they did! The aromas are rich and dark, with lots of black cherry and a hint of balsamic. In the mouth the wine is round and energetic, with cherry and black raspberry fruit complemented by hints of damp earth. If you like Sangiovese-based wines like Chianti or our best-selling Colsanto from Umbria, you'll love this! The wine is ripe, fresh, and fruit-driven with a wonderful dash of earthy complexity at the end. Buy it by the case and drink with pizza, grilled poultry, and pasta.
- Mont Pellier Viognier 2008 Product #23163 (In Stock)
-
-
The Mont Pellier Viognier is one of the most delicious values in the store! The wine is a crisp refreshing alternative to people looking for a fun dry white wine. There are loads of flavors of white pineapple and spiced tropical fruit. The finish is crisp and dry. The wine is a great pairing for Asian spiced fish dishes.
- Dom De Eguren Protocolo Tinto 2008 Product #23215 (In Stock)
-
-
A TERRIFIC VALUE! This displays dark cherry and anise on the nose. The palate presents a nice array of complexity for price with notes of black pepper, plum, and black cherry. A delicious deal. Pairs great with spicy beef dishes of grilled game.
- Terrazzo Esino Rosso 2008 Product #23329 (In Stock)
-
-
The Terrazzo Rosso hails from Italy's Esino DOC, a newly recognized sub-area in the central Italian Marches region. The wine is a blend of Sangiovese (60%) and Montepulciano (40%) and is just about the tastiest weeknight pizza/pasta wine we've run across in a while. Juicy and fresh, this shows off sour cherry and red plum fruit with accents of lavender and freshly turned earth. The flavors are robust and ripe, but the wine is refreshingly light in alcohol (12.5%) and tannin (just a tiny bit). This will show best with a light chill, and he winemakers have given about 15 different pairing suggestions on the back label. But, don't worry too much - just pop a bottle open and have fun!

- Cadastres Picpoul De Pinet 2009 Product #23089 (In Stock)
-
-
This 100% estate grown Picpoul de Pinet clearly demonstrates just how under-rated this variety is. We loved the 2008 for its pretty aromas of white flowers, lemon/lime citrus, and anise/fennel notes plus its crisp, minerally, texture plus granny smith apple, green melon, and lemon/lime flavors. The 2009 vintage gives a very similar wine but with a touch more ripe apple fruit, a bit more amplitude in the mouth, and greater freshness. This is just a great all-around daily white, with enough flavor and body to shine by itself at a party and enough complexity and depth to pair well with freshwater fish and lighter poultry dishes. Tremendous value!
- La Slina Monferrato Bianco 2009 Product #23093 (In Stock)
-
-
La Slina Bianco is a joint venture between the Cichero brothers of Gavi’s La Slina and Mauro Fracchia of Monferrato’s Sulin estate. The friends start with La Slina’s Cortese - the grape of Gavi famous for its crisp acidity and exotic ginger, spice and almond notes. They blend in some of Mauro’s Chardonnay to add orchard fruits - apples and peaches - and extra body. Last, a dash of Müller-Thurgau adds intensity and complexity to the aromas and a bit more vibrant acidity.
The result is fresh and lemony with lithe green apple and orchard fruit, notes of fresh lime, and just a hint of ginger on the finish. It's a bright, clean wine that shows just the very tiniest hint of spritz (right on the tip of your tongue) which makes it even more refreshing. It’s a stunningly good back porch/patio/party white that will both quench your thirst and delight your senses. And, there’s more than enough going on here to pair well with shellfish (especially if there’s lots of garlic!). Great value. - Parados Winemaker's Reserve 2008 Product #21991 (In Stock)
-
-
This is as fine a red for spring and summer sipping and entertaining as anything we've ever seen at this price. The wine spends about two months in wood to soften it, but shows no oak flavors or aromas at all. It's all about juicy red fruit with a little complicating note of spice and earth. Fresh and vibrant, the tannins on this wine are soft enough that it takes a chill well. Drink with burgers, grilled pork, meaty fish, or anything at a picnic. Fantastic value!
"The Winemaker’s Select is a highly attractive innovative blend of 40% Sangiovese, 40% Tempranillo and 20% Malbec. Star bright and medium ruby in color, it displays a pleasing red berry fruit nose with surprising intensity of ripe concentrated flavor and elegance on the palate. It is a great food wine and is offered at a bargain price."iWine.com 90 points

One of the best values around today. The Alto Tierruca is a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc (I know, we didn't know Chile made Sauvignon Blanc either) that comes from the Lontue Valley, an area that receives plenty of warm sunshine and cool Pacific Breezes.
The wine a crisp refreshing white wine, with notes of tropical fruit, lemon, and minerlity. The wine goes well with many lighter fare dishes, as well as with spiced up asian cuisine.

- Steininger Young 2009 Product #23162 (In Stock)
-
-
The Steininger Young has to be one of the BEST patio wines we've come across in a long time. The wine is fun, fresh and had great fruit. Aromas of soft orange blossom curl out of the glass, along with a note of spiced white pineapple. Flavors of lemon zest and tart melon are on the palate, along with a refreshing acidity, making this a great wine for the Spring and Summer months.
