- Parados Winemaker's Reserve 2008 Product #21991 (In Stock)
-
-
This is as fine a red for spring and summer sipping and entertaining as anything we've ever seen at this price. The wine spends about two months in wood to soften it, but shows no oak flavors or aromas at all. It's all about juicy red fruit with a little complicating note of spice and earth. Fresh and vibrant, the tannins on this wine are soft enough that it takes a chill well. Drink with burgers, grilled pork, meaty fish, or anything at a picnic. Fantastic value!
"The Winemaker’s Select is a highly attractive innovative blend of 40% Sangiovese, 40% Tempranillo and 20% Malbec. Star bright and medium ruby in color, it displays a pleasing red berry fruit nose with surprising intensity of ripe concentrated flavor and elegance on the palate. It is a great food wine and is offered at a bargain price."iWine.com 90 points

Delight in a spectacle of plum-raspberry aromas, very spicy and with a fruity retro-nasal aroma. With all of the sharpness and brilliance of its cherry red tones, and then in the mouth, this wine has a smooth and balanced passage with the great intensity of the fruit provided by its youth. Its aftertaste is long and pleasing. Winemaker Notes
- Monte Degli Angeli Sangiovese Puglia 2008 Product #22540 (In Stock)
-
-
We're not sure how Monte Degli Angeli found Sangiovese like this down in the hot heel of the Italian boot, but we're really glad they did! The aromas are rich and dark, with lots of black cherry and a hint of balsamic. In the mouth the wine is round and energetic, with cherry and black raspberry fruit complemented by hints of damp earth. If you like Sangiovese-based wines like Chianti or our best-selling Colsanto from Umbria, you'll love this! The wine is ripe, fresh, and fruit-driven with a wonderful dash of earthy complexity at the end. Buy it by the case and drink with pizza, grilled poultry, and pasta.

- Terrazzo Esino Rosso 2008 Product #23329 (In Stock)
-
-
The Terrazzo Rosso hails from Italy's Esino DOC, a newly recognized sub-area in the central Italian Marches region. The wine is a blend of Sangiovese (60%) and Montepulciano (40%) and is just about the tastiest weeknight pizza/pasta wine we've run across in a while. Juicy and fresh, this shows off sour cherry and red plum fruit with accents of lavender and freshly turned earth. The flavors are robust and ripe, but the wine is refreshingly light in alcohol (12.5%) and tannin (just a tiny bit). This will show best with a light chill, and he winemakers have given about 15 different pairing suggestions on the back label. But, don't worry too much - just pop a bottle open and have fun!
- Dom Isle Saint Pierre Chardonnay 2008 Product #23147 (In Stock)
-
-
Here’s a stunning Chardonnay value from the little-known VdP des Bouches du Rhone appellation in the south of France. Domaine Isle Saint Pierre sources the fruit for this juicy, fresh, wine from vines ranging from 35-55 year-old. The Domaine has practiced sustainable viticulture for the past 10 years and uses no herbicides or pesticides. To ensure that the wines are as fresh as possible, the winery has been built right in the middle of the vineyards and all wines are fermented and aged in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.
Give this a swirl and you’ll find bright, ripe, aromas of fresh cut apple and a little white peach jump out of the glass. Take a mouthful and you’ll find juicy green apple, peach, and pineapple fruit with hints of white flower and pear and just a tiny touch of Provencal herbs. Although there’s plenty of vigorous acidity, this medium-bodied chardonnay is round and easy-drinking with lovely melon, lime and mineral notes on the mouthwatering finish. A great example of how well-grown Chardonnay fruit can deliver loads of refreshment and pleasure without any obfuscating oak. - Picco Del Sole Aglianico 2008 Product #23185 (In Stock)
-
-
Southern Italy’s best red grape, Aglianico, is typically made in a tannic, muscular style, intended for extended bottle ageing. Born in the landlocked region of Beneventano, the Picco del Sole is an oddity in that it's fresh and bright with not a hint of the grip and tannin found typically in this local variety. Instead you’ll find full ripe fruit, a dash of earth and spice, and a gentle, easy-going, finish. A perfect wine to keep on hand for any cookout.

There are some great values coming out of the Southern Rhone these days, and this is one of them. Just what a wine of this class should be - juicy, fresh, and very easy to drink. A blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah, the wine is fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel tank. It's crimson red with a generous nose of cassis, blackberry, garrigues, leather and smoke. Medium-full in body with moderate acidity and soft tannins, the wine offers flavors of black currant, blackberry, white pepper and anise. Warm and rich with intense fruit, it is beautifully balanced to enjoy now and over the next 5-6 years. The finish is long, rich and aromatic. This is very flexible with food, but will shine with roasted chicken, grilled meats, mushrooms, pastas and cheeses. Or pizza. Or burgers. Oh, just drink it!
- Red Dust Shiraz 2009 Product #23010 (In Stock)

Red Dust is the kind of super value Australia used to specialize in. The company is a joint venture of US Importer Bob Shack and winemaker Hugh Matthews, former president of both BRL Hardy and Lindemann Estates. The wine is a gem! It's a blend of 95% Shiraz and 5% Merlot. The aromas feature blackberry, plum and just a touch of cracked pepper. Flavors lean towards dark berries and plum with enough oak to add interest. It's full-bodied and ready to drink with beef, ribs, grilled pork, or other robust meals.

- Root 1 Cabernet Sauvignon Chile 2008 Product #22127 (In Stock)
-
-
One of our favorite value Cabernets is drinking better than ever. "Root 1" is grown in high-altitude vineyards where phylloxera can't live, so these are some of the few vinifera vines in the world grown "ungrafted" on their own roots. The wine has a rich ruby color and shows aromas of black cherry, vanilla, and just a hint of herb. In the mouth, this medium-bodied wine delivers flavors of black cherry, black currant, and hints of toffee and herb on the soft finish. A great Cab for a cook out or just sipping with friends!
- Leese-fitch Merlot 2008 Product #22928 (In Stock)
-
-
"With a dark garnet color, this blend shows aromas of strawberry, milk chocolate fondue, grilled apricots, and cinnamon spiked toffee. In the mouth, this blend is a waterfall of strawberry shortcake, summer plums, orange peel, and Maraschino cherries with a hint of clove spice and delicate tannins. The soft, fresh fruit flavors ride all the way to the finish with nuances of rich French oak, vanilla, caramel, and cappuccino. Most of this blend was assembled from a vineyard in Northeast Monterey County. This fruit was allowed to hang until mid-November to allow for maximum ripening. This vineyard is notorious for producing tannic Merlot, with the additional hang time the tannins were softened the fruit component was heightened. The blend was made more complex by blending ripe, jammy Lodi Syrah, with a touch of spicy Paso Robles Zinfandel. The Zinfandel fit into this blend seamlessly and complements the Merlot. The overall blend creates a Merlot that has great flavors to appeal to all sorts of Merlot fans.
This Merlot blend would pair wonderfully with a Quattro Formaggio pizza with a drizzle of olive oil, grilled chicken with a mango chutney and jasmine rice, or a grilled burger topped with roasted red pepper and Sonoma Jack cheese alongside sweet potato fries." -Winery Notes
